How Do I Pay a Ticket/Fine?

Citations/tickets that do not require a court appearance (i.e. parking violations, speeding, etc.) are due in full before the court date listed on the citation.

Fines assessed on court appearances are due in full on the day of sentencing, unless a payment agreement is ordered by the Judge. Payments MUST be received on or before the due date.

ALL citations/tickets take 2 business days to process to the Court.
Please wait 2 business days before contacting the Court for information about your citation/ticket.

Payment Options

💳 Pay online

  • Many citations and payments toward monthly agreements are encouraged to be paid online (transaction fee applies.) You will need your name, contact information, and citation/case number. If the system does not allow you to pay your citation online, it may mean that your appearance in court is required - please contact the Court for more information. If you have a payment plan arranged with the Court, you will need the case/docket number or the citation number.
  • Driving a rental car? Please visit our Parking Violations in Rental Cars page for payment guidance.

  • Overtime parking violations can alternatively be paid (cash or check ONLY) at City Hall located at 📍418 E 2nd St, either in-person during business hours or via the utility billing drop box located inside the Baker Avenue doorway north of the main entrance. The citation with phone number MUST be included with payment.

Time pay Agreements (Payment plans)

Agreements to make monthly payments are available and are arranged in court with the Judge. It is imperative to keep in mind the following information:

  • It is your responsibility to make sure your payment is received on or before the agreed upon monthly due date.
  • If you make a payment larger than your agreed upon monthly amount, the excess will be applied to the principal balance and will not change the amount due nor will it change your next payment date. You are still required to make a payment for the full payment amount the following month.
  • If you are unable to make a payment, you must contact the Court prior to your due date. Otherwise, you will be required to appear in court.
  • A Show Cause Hearing may be held, and if you fail to appear at that hearing your driver's license may be suspended and a warrant may be issued for your arrest.

Delinquent Accounts

If you do not pay according to your court-ordered payment schedule, you could be held in contempt, your sentence could be revoked, your driver’s license suspended, and/or outstanding fine balances could be turned over to a collection agency if you fail to appear. Failure to contact the Court to make other arrangements prior to the due date may result in the balance due being turned over to the Montana Department of Revenue or a collection agency.
